Prizes and Fellowships

July, 2017: Hee Sok Chung (CERN) has received the Humboldt Research Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers. He will start his postdoctoral work in our group from from October 2017.

June, 2017: Rafael Delgado Lopez (UCM, Madrid) has received a research grant from the Ramon Areces Foundation. He will start his postdoctoral work in our group from from October 2017.

May, 2017: Prof. Yannick Meurice (University of Iowa) has received a Visiting Professorship under the Visiting Professor Program – Bavarian State Ministry of Education, Science and the Arts to visit us in October 2017.

May, 2017: Prof. André Mischke (Utrecht University) has received the August-Wilhelm Scheer Visiting Professorship to visit us in September-November, 2018.

December, 2016: Our former Ph.D student Dr. Matthias Berwein (now a postdoc at the Tohoku University) was the finalist of the DPG Dissertation Prize for Gravitation and Relativity Theory, Physics of Hadrons and Nuclei, and Particle physics, 2017.

December, 2016: Our former Ph.D student Dr. Simone Biondini (now a postdoc in University of Bern) has received the Universe Ph.D Award 2016 during the Excellence Cluster Science Week.

December, 2016: Prof. Sinead Ryan (Trinity College Dublin) has received the August-Wilhelm Scheer Visiting Professorship to visit us in July 2017.

December, 2016: Prof. Gastao Krein (Instituto de Fisica Teorica) has received a Visiting Professorship under the Visiting Professor Program, funded by the Bavarian State Ministry for Science, Research and the Arts.

June/September, 2016: Our PhD student Matthias Berwein has been awarded with the JSPS Research Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers and the RIKEN Fellowship for Special Postdoctoral Researchers, for postdoctoral research postitions at the Tohoku University and at the RIKEN in Japan. From Novermber 2016, he will continue the research at the Tohoku University and from April 2018 at the RIKEN, on effective field theories for heavy quarks in vacuum and finite temperature.

April, 2016: Prof. Chris Quigg (Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, Chicago) as previous Alexander von Humboldt prize is visiting us on a reinvitation grant that starts this april and will go on with other visits. He will do research on pheomenology of standard model and beyond.

April, 2016: Dr. Luigi Delle Rose (Rutherford Appleton Lab. and Southampton U.) has been awarded the Alexander von Humboldt fellowship for a research project in collaboration with T30f to explore baryogenesis through leptogenesis with effective field theory methods.

April, 2015: Dr. Somdeb Chakraborty (Saha Inst. of Nuclear Physics) has been awarded the Alexander von Humboldt fellowship for a research project in collaboration with T30f to explore the Quark Gluon Plasma with nonperturbative methods.

November, 2014: Dr. Jorge Segovia (Argonne National Laboratory) has been awarded the Alexander von Humboldt fellowship to continue his research carer at the T30f group. In the T30f he will focus on the study of hybrid and exotic states.

July, 2014: Prof. Andreas Kronfeld (Fermilab) has been honoured with the TUM-IAS Hans Fischer Senior fellowship for a joint research program with Prof. Nora Brambilla on "Interplay of Effective Quantum Field Theory and Numerical Lattice Gauge Theory". In connection to this research project Prof. Kronfeld will visit our group at TUM for 3 months each year in the next 3 years. A Ph. D. position will be implemented in the program. A new Focus group called "Effective Theories" will be set up at the TUM-IAS headed by Nora Brambilla. The research program deals with realization of innovative ideas in particle and nuclear physics with envisaged spin off to condensed matter and computational physics. February, 2013: Jacopo Ghiglieri has won the DPG Dissertation Prize 2013 of the divisions Gravitation and Relativity, Hadronic and Nuclear Physics and Particle Physics for his PHD thesis Effective Field Theories of QCD for Heavy Quarkonia at Finite Temperature. November, 2012: Prof. Nora Brambilla has been elected as Fellow of American Physical Society. More info in the official university page.

January, 2012: The PhD student Matthias Berwein has been awarded with a GCOE fellowship (Kyoto, Japan) to spend three months in the group of Prof. Hideo Suganuma in the Physics Department of the Kyoto University.

September, 2011: Jacopo Ghiglieri has been awarded with a IPP fellowship (Canada) to support outstanding postdocs in theoretical particle physics. After finishing his PhD in the T30f he has joined the Physics Department of the McGill University.

April, 2010: Hector Martinez from Universidad Santa Maria (Chile) has been awarded with the DAAD scholarship to carry out his doctoral studies in Germany in the T30f group.

January, 2010: Prof. Antonio Pich (IFIC Valencia), received the Humboldt Prize with a nomination by Prof. Brambilla and Prof. Buras and visited our group in the period 2010-2012.
